With the supervision of Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and ASEAN- Korea Center, ASEAN- Korea Tourism Capacity Building workshop was held with the title of “Promoting Bagan as a Sustainable Cultural Heritage Tourism Destination” at Aye Yar River View Resort Hotel in Bagan on 9th February, 2018 with the aim to promote Bagan as a sustainable cultural heritage destination and to come more Korean visitors to Bagan.
H.E. Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of ASEAN- Korea Center delivered an opening speech and U Tint Thwin, Director General of Directorate of Hotels and Tourism delivered a welcoming speech. Then, H.E. Lee Sang-hwa, Korea Ambassador to Myanmar also delivered a speech.
The workshop was held in each sector and U Aung Aye Han, Deputy Director General, professor Lee Seul-ki from Sejong University College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, U Zaw Weik, Chairman of Bagan Hotelier Association, Mr. Seo Sang-ok, General Manager from Redcap Tour Co.,Ltd Korea, U Kyaw Minn Htin from Myanmar Tourism Federation and professor Park Jang-sik from Institute for Southeast Asian Studies of Busan University of Foreign Studies discussed on these titles; overall reviewing on Myanmar-Korea tourism relation, promoting Bagan as a sustainable tourism destination, marketing strategies to promote Bagan in Korea, Korea culture and structure of Korea tourists respectively and the workshop was over at 17:30.
Responsible person from ASEAN-Korea Center, Myanmar language major students from Foreign studies of Sejong University and Busan University, tourism entrepreneurs from private and public sector in Bagan, Korean language tour guides and hoteliers and travel agencies attended the workshop.
