The meeting was Chaired by the Union Minister. Also present were thePermanent Secretary for Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, relevant departmental personnel, representatives from the Myanmar Tourism Federation, Union of Myanmar Travel Association, Myanmar-China Tourism Development Committee,tour operators and travel agencies operating in the Chinese market.
The Union Minister set the tone for the meeting by saying“This meeting is being held to discussstrategies and policies on how to develop and manage in a responsible and sustainable way visitation from China, to be aware of the current situation in Myanmar and to make the travel experience as smooth as possibleand to return the tourism benefits to the country and stakeholders. So, it is necessary to discuss these issues based on your knowledge and work experiences.”
The Ministry then invited those attending to express their views andshare their experiences on the Chinese market, how to carrying out improvements in the tourist’s experiences in line with the current rules and regulations and the wide reaching tourism benefits received from Chinese visitors.
In conclusion, the Union Minister spoke about the development of the tourism industry in Myanmar and the priority of attracting more tourists.Making doing business easier and urging those working in the tourism field to conduct their business in a cooperative and systematic way so as to benefit all those involved.
