Vendors would come in with ox-carts to sell their harvest. Their earnings will be donated to the pagoda to gain merits.

The Pa-O tribe of Shan State celebrates this harvest festival in March at the Kekku Ancient Pagoda Complex. People of the tribe would gather at the pagoda just to celebrate a successful harvest. They would sell their produce and donate their earnings to the pagoda to earn merits. The locals would wear traditional costumes and participate in hornouring the Buddha image. Open to tourists from around the world, this festival plays a huge role in contributing to the country’s economy as well as becoming an important religious activity of the locals. Activities in this festival create a rare sight to see as many vendors bring in ox-drawn carts to sell their items to locals and tourists. In this festival, tourists can enjoy walking around the area and witness the interaction between locals in a market-like environment.
