HIGHLIGHTS

Tribes cook and camp under trees throughout the festival’s duration. Farmers sell their harvest and donate their earnings to the monks. The people of Pindaya still maintains an interesting ancient practice.

Clans in Pindaya celebrate the harvest festival every March in Pindaya, Shan State. Farmers would reap their harvest and sell them to donate their earnings to the pagoda and the temple. Donations are also given out to monks who have helped and guided devotees in religious services and prayers in the state. The locals have an ancient merit-making practice of filling stone surfaces with indentions of the Buddha image. Tribes around Pindaya would join the Pindaya people in cooking a feats and camping under banyan trees. Besides witnessing the festival, tourists also gather at Pindaya to enjoy the natural caves and beautiful rock formations in the area.
