The harvest festival is largely celebrated by people in Mandalay in which they would gather at Shwe Sar Yan Village, Patheingyi in March. It is a combination of activities like social gathering, religious ceremony and country fair. Farmers bring their carts carrying harvest and local goods to sell to other locals and tourists. Some of the money earned by the farmers would be donated to the monks and temples in the region. Tourists flock the area to experience the authentic lifestyle of locals who walk around the fair to bargain and purchase goods from vendors. There are also woven toys made of dried palm fronds that the locals make as part of the harvest celebration. The pagoda is only 45 minutes from Mandalay, making this festival a must-visit for tourists in the vicinity of the region.
