HIGHLIGHTS

Thousands of lights and candles are lit up to represent Buddha’s path. This festival also features Zat Pwe, a traditional performance from the locals.

Also known as Thadingyut Light Festival, villagers celebrate this meaningful occasion in October throughout the country. This festival takes place at night, where thousands of lights and candles are lit up on buildings and along the streets to celebrate the return of the Lord Buddha from heaven. Visitors will be mesmerised by the display of lights during this festival. The lights and candles represent the pathway taken by the Lord Buddha when he descended back to the mortal world after successfully preaching his mother who was in heaven. Tourists can also enjoy watching the Zat Pwe, traditional music performance shown on stages that are specially erected for the festival.
