Held at the Kyaik Khauk Pagoda, every February in Thanlyin, Yangon, this festival is includes a huge fair set up by the locals to celebrate this festival. Merchants sell many traditional items that can only be found in Myanmar like handicrafts, silk products and lacquerware dishes. The merchants come in with big carts carrying the items to be sold at the festival, creating a unique traditional environment around the festival. Tourists get to browse and buy those items as souvenirs. As the festival is held at a sacred site, locals and tourists could be seen dressing up in polite manners as a sign of respect to the devotees and the religious site. They also remove their shoes before entering any holy buildings, proving how much the locals value their customs and traditions.
