For a period of one year effective from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019, tourists with ordinary passports from the following countries will be granted visa exemption:
JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA, MACAO, AND HONG KONG
Tourists can enter Myanmar through the International Gateways (Yangon international Airport, Mandalay International Airport, Nay Pyi Taw International Airport and Yangon International Seaport) and Myanmar-Thailand Land Border Checkpoints (Tachileik, Myawady, Kawthaung, Htee Kee, and Myanmar-India Land Border Checkpoints: Tamu and Rikhawdar).
Individuals who come to Myanmar for the sole purpose of visiting shall only be allowed the Tourist Visa. Tourists from Japan, South Korea, Macao and Hong Kong with ordinary passports are allowed to stay in Myanmar for 30 days. However, they will not be granted with Visa Extension.
Tourists must oblige to the law and procedures of Myanmar:
- are granted freedom to any permitted areas,
- are to refrain from visiting restricted areas in Myanmar,
- if Immigration and other ministries and departments can reject entry of specific tourists who can be make sense
