Collaborative Meeting held regarding the development of Sport and Gastronomy Tourism in Myanmar

Tourism is always looking for new markets and product development ideas and on the 26th August a meeting was held in Nay Pyi Taw at the Ministryof Hotels and Tourism,to lookinto the development of Sport and Gastronomy tourism in Myanmar.
The meeting was held under the joint leadership of Union Minister Dr. Myint Htwe, Ministry of Health and Sports and Union Minister U Ohnn Maung, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Also, at the meeting were the,Deputy Minister Dr. Mya Lay Sein, Permanent Secretary Dr. Tarthar Htun Kyaw from Ministry of Health and Sports. Also, in attendance wereresponsible persons from the Department of Food and Drug Administration including the Director General, Chairman of Myanmar Tourism Federation, Chairmen of respective tourism organizations and responsible members.
At the meeting, Union Minister U Ohnn Maung gave aspeech and said, “There are so many resources in Myanmar for Sport and Gastronomy tourism. Today’s meeting is to discuss how to harness these resources for future development and how to successful manage them. I want to say aheartfeltthanks to the Tourism Associations for their involvement in the recent ASEAN Food Festival 2019 (Mandalay). We need to give quality serviceto our guests in the Food and Beverage Sector which go towards supportingour country’s economy. I want to urge you all to explore all aspects ofSport and Gastronomy tourism as a new product development area.
After that, Union Minster Dr. Myint Htwe spoke andsaid, “If we can manage the sports and gastronomy tourism development, successfully, it will be very valuable for us.This is the first meeting regarding these discussions and we need to have awell-planned process established by therespective committees. I want all attendees today to discuss actively about this tourism development. Our Ministry will support the process as much as we can”
Then, the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and senior executives from the Myanmar Tourism Federation, Myanmar Hoteliers Association, Myanmar Restaurant Association, Myanmar Tourism Marketing, Myanmar Tourist Health Care and General ServicesAssociation, Union Myanmar Travel Association discuss respectively.
Afterwards, the two Union Ministers discuss further the establishment of the executive committees for the development of Sport and Gastronomy tourism.
