MoHT Union Minister discusses inbound/outbound travel growth with IMCC

UNION Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Aung Thaw met with the representatives led by the Chairman of Myanmar Exhibition and Convention Association at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel on 23 June. At the meeting, they discussed the organizing of a tourism fair in Yangon under the title of “Let’s Go VACS YANGON Travel Fair 2023” as a gesture of hailing World Tourism Day and arrangements for the participation of over 120 exhibition booths. The Union minister also discussed the preparations to organize a Familiarization-FAM Trip consisting of the travelogue writers, media personnel and travel agents from the Russian Federation by cooperating with the chairman of the Myanmar Tourism Federation and chairmen of related associations and the representative group of Myanmar Airways International. The Union minister and party attended the meeting with the patron, president and members of the India-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce (IMCC) at India Centre in Yangon on the same afternoon. During the meeting, the president and secretary of the India-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce (IMCC) and the Indian ambassador to Myanmar extended words of greeting and the Union minister gave a speech. In his speech, the Union minister highlighted the bilateral tourism cooperation, the arrival of Indian travellers to Myanmar in 2019, 244 per cent increase of Indian tourists to Myanmar until May 2023 compared to the same period of last year after COVID-19 restrictions were eased in the country and benefits of the event. Then, the Union minister and members of IMCC discussed the matters on the visa, insurance, opportunity for investment, expected market potentials and interactive discussion for the sustainable development of the hotel and tourism sector. Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Vinay Kumar, IMCC President Mr Naresh Kumar and members, responsible officials of the ministries concerned, responsible persons from UMFCCI, Chairman of Myanmar Tourism Federation and representatives from the hotel and tourism associations and guests among others attended the meeting. — MNA/KTZH Source From: The Global New Light of Myanmar
