MoHT Union Minister meets ACC delegation, heads to tourism conference

UNION Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Thet Thet Khine met Mr Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the Beijing-based ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), and his delegation at Sedona Hotel, Yangon, on 8 December. The delegation arrived in Yangon to attend the opening ceremony of the Fifth National Sports Festival in Nay Pyi Taw. The meeting featured open and cordial discussions on several key topics, including raising awareness among Chinese tourists about Myanmar’s travel destinations, organizing Chinese language training courses to improve service quality, and encouraging greater private sector involvement in bilateral tourism initiatives. Discussions also addressed fostering Chinese investment in Myanmar’s hotels and tourism sectors, enhancing bilateral cooperation in tourism, and strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and the ASEAN-China Centre to support Myanmar’s tourism development. Following the discussions, the Union Minister hosted a dinner in honour of the Secretary General and his delegation. On 9 December, the Union Minister departed Yangon by air to attend the first Rural Development Tourism Conference in Hội An, Vietnam.
