The Akha Swing Festival is a cherished traditional event that celebrates peace, unity, food abundance, and the preservation of Akha cultural heritage. Held at the end of the planting season, the festival features rituals dedicated to the Akha goddess of fertility, praying for a fruitful harvest. According to Akha belief, their ancestors descended from the heavens through the swing, giving deep spiritual meaning to the celebration. Each year in August, Akha communities across Shan State (East), including Tachileik, Kyaing Tong, and Mong Hsat and take turns hosting the festival in their villages. In 2025, the
festival will be celebrated for three days from August 12 to 14 in Ouu Phu Dae Akha Village, Mong Hsat Township.
