MYANMAR is focusing on tourism development to promote the State economy, said General Mya Tun Oo.
Central Committee on National Tourism Development Chairman SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo delivered a speech at the 1/2025 meeting of the Central Committee on National Tourism Development in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking on occasion, the General said the international countries expand their investment in the tourism sector including visa relief, flight expansion, market promotion, exploration of tourism products in tours and holding of events. Therefore, the country focuses on tourism development like other countries to support the State’s economic growth, facilitation of local transport and receiving more tourist arrivals.
Regarding the tourism development programmes, the local products, food and souvenirs should be used widely, and the techniques, knowledge, training, workshops and exhibitions should be conducted in regions and states to produce more finished products.
Moreover, the relevant region and state tourism committees follow the guidance of the tourism working committee for offering services of travel guide and sustainability of destinations, cleanliness, local food, ethnic traditional food to be hygienic, and work with the relevant officials and locals.
He then called for making efforts to share the actual situation for travellers to know the safety of travelling in Myanmar in a short time, and express the unique tourism products and services on the digital platform.
Vice-Chairperson Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Thet Thet Khine and Secretary Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe reported on measures regarding the tourism development, current situation and future work plans.
Members of the committee Union ministers, chief ministers from regions and states, deputy ministers and relevant officials discussed the tourism development-related matters.
After hearing the reports, the General made proper instructions and concluded the meeting. — MNA/KTZH
