CALLING FOR THE COOPERATION ON PROTECTION AGAINST CORONAVIRUS DISEASE 2019 (COVID-19), ACUTE RESPIRATORY DISEASE Nay Pyi Taw, February 21st
  1. The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has been focusing on developing the Tourism sector in Myanmar and offering safe and secure travel experience to travelers.
  2. The Chinese Consular Office in Mandalay informed on 19th February 2020 that(2)out of (119) travelers on board from Mandalay International Airport to Hupe Province, China on 25th January 2020 had been infected COVID-19 after arriving in China on the date of 7th February 2020 and 11th February 2020 respectively. These two tourists stayed in Mandalay from 20thto 24th January 2020, departed to China on 25th January 2020 and infected COVID-19 after arriving in China. Those who interacted with the two infected Chinese Tourists, including tour guides, hotel and restaurant staff, drivers, and their family members were asked to take medical checkups by the department of Public Health in Mandalay division and reported that there was no symptoms of acute respiratory illness shown. However, the Ministry of Health and Sports has been monitoring their health situation and they are asked to inform the Ministry immediately once any symptom of the disease occurred.
  3. In collaboration with respective ministries, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has been taking precautionary measures to limit the risk of spreading the diseases in line with the instruction of the Committee for Preventing, Containing and Treating Pneumonia caused by COVID-19 virus. Please be advised hotels, tour companies, tour guides, and all tourism stakeholders to cooperate in protection against COVID 19.
