The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism Holds a Donation Ceremony of Appreciation on Baganbecoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Nay Pyi Taw, 22th July The granting of UNESCOWorld Heritage status is an event which happens very rarely. To honour this special occasion the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and leading tourism industry groups held a Donation ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw on the 22nd July 2019. The ceremony, was held in the Sapphire Hall at the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Those present included the Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Union Minister U Ohnn Maung, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Deputy Minister U Kyi Min and representatives from Foreign Hotel Investment, Myanmar Hoteliers Association (MHA), Union Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA), Myanmar Restaurant Association (MRA). In his address to the assembled group the Union Minister U Ohnn Maung said“Today’sceremony of donation by the Myanmar tourism industry associations is to show their support for the tireless efforts by all concerned, in Bagan being named as an UNESCO World Heritage site. We would like to say thank you to the Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko, officers from related ministries and the private organizations for their special supporton the long journey to becoming a World Heritage Destination. We would like to thank those who collaborated in establishing the rules and regulations for the site and finally I wanted to say special thanks to Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko, senior officials and the donors who attended this ceremony today” TheUnion Minister Thura U Aung Ko was then presented with the donations from the tourism industry, which totaled 12 million MMK. The donations where received from, the Foreign Hotel Investment, MHA, UMTA and MRA. The Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko then spoke andthankedthe tourism industry and donors and welcomedtheir ongoing and future support fora sustainableBagan World Heritage Site.
